Willie Revillame Receives 2 Million from Anonymous

While having lunch today my mom called me up to rush in front of the TV and watch Wowowee (a local noontime show in the Philippines). I was like, "OK", because I was really not interested. Willie Revillame, the famous host of the show, revealed that he received a gift yesterday from someone who requested for anonymity. At first I was just thinking that it's only personal stuffs for Willie like clothes and chocolates as most TFC subscribers give him on the show. But surprisingly shocking, when he opened the box, 3 brown envelopes with cold cash left me, my mom and the audience flabbergasted and jaw-dropped. The first two envelopes contain 750,000 pesos each and 500,000 pesos from the third envelope with a whopping 2 million total. Is this serious? Someone would give away 2 million cash?

Mr. Revillame had a short segment of talk regarding the cash he received. According to the host, he doesn't need cash but many does. The 2M cash will help a lot, the host added. With no second thought, Willie announced the he will give all the cash away to some deserving people. 500,000 to Bantay Bata, 500,000 to the ULTRA stampede victims and 500,000 to OFWs having a hard time going back home. He will also send 150,000 to the Arciaga conjoined twins who were born critical just this month. The remaining money will be allotted to worthy contestants on his show. Such noble acts.

It's really good to know that there are still many good souls out there who are willing to help the unfortunate and the poor. To Mr. Anonymous who gave the cash, keep it up and continue helping others. I'm sure God reserves a very wonderful gift for you. May you bring inspiration to others.

Massacre in San Fernando Pampanga

I was in San Fernando city, Pampanga just this morning to attend some important meeting with the NTC administrator. While I was on my way, I noticed the trees alongside the McArthur highway painted with white human figures as if they were hugging the trees. Then I was informed about the road expansion project of the local government and more than 4,000 trees are sentenced to be cut down from Pampanga to Tarlac. I can’t believe that such proposal was approved by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

For the reason that is, Kapampangan artists and environmentalists are trying to turn down this road-widening plan by calling out officials not to cut the trees who have rendered long term service since the Mount Pinatubo eruption. Thus, they have painted human figures to almost 1,000 of them and now they are calling for volunteers and concerned citizens for donations so that they can continue to mark art to all convicted trees as they have run out of paint.

I have already seen a lot of big trees chopped and knocked down on some parts of the city and I was really disappointed. Trees are very important since they serve as shades to the scorching heat of the sun. I am actually worried that our province might soon become like Manila where the ambient air is by and large polluted and that soon, smokes from vehicles will just become a normal content of the air we breathe. I hope DENR will do something about this. I totally want to rebuff this plan. This deal once made can never be undone so I hope this would be given attention before it's too late.

Recently, I have been investing a lot in fixtures and interior designs at home. And on top of my list right now is to get the best dining table that will match the theme of my home interiors. I have done window shopping and got a pretty good number of choices which really are of marvelous designs. "Amanu" Art Nude Exhibit by Jason Paul Laxamana

After the success of RocKampangan, the first ever Kapampangan rock album in history plus many other Kapampangan themed productions, Jason Paul Laxamana will be having an art nude exhibit in key places in Pampanga and Manila. Titled "Amanu: The Human Body in Major Philippine Languages", the event will be held this August in line with the celebration of the Buwan ng mga Wika (Languages Month).

Some of the other projects where Mr. Laxamana was made known for are Balangingi (Nosebleed, won Best Short Film Award at the 1st Philippine Digital Awards last March 2009), Kalam (First ever Kapampanganovela) and many other interesting film ventures.

June 2009 Nursing Board Exam NLE Results are Out

Finally, the longest days are over. After weeks of waiting, praying and sleep deprivation, the list of passers for the June 2009 Philippine Nursing Licensure Examinations (NLE) has been unveiled by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). A lot of good friends who took part on the exam are now proud having two additional letters added on their names (RN that is).

I remember during the time when I took the board exams for Electronics Engineers, the test itself is really not the hardest part. Rather, waiting for the result to come out is agonizing and terrible. It will leave you sleepless nights, preoccupied and bothered thoughts which will surely stress you out. Most who experienced the nightmares of the board examination would have to agree with me on this. But as soon as you see your name on the long list of passers, it’s like your own moment of winning American Idol.

To some who were not fortunate enough to pass the NLE, the battle is not through yet, you'll be stronger and better next time around so break a leg. And of course, to those who passed, congratulations guys for a job well done. You belong to the cream of the crop. Welcome to the professional world.

Total Solar Eclipse July 22 2009

People in most parts of Asia especially in India and China have witnessed today the longest full solar eclipse of the 21st century which lasted 6 minutes and 39 seconds. This record of the longest duration as many claim will not be surpassed until the June 13, 2132 solar eclipse.

I was a bit worried though about this solar eclipse because a lot of speculations from critiques and experts have sprouted out. Some say that this signals a tsunami that might approach the coast of Japan because of the tidal pull that might move off the tectonic plates. Others say that this might change the global metamorphosis as this can affect the earth's behavior.

Actually, I wasn't able to witness the eclipse since I just woke up. That's a big regret for me as it will only happen again after 12 decades. Here in the Philippines, just a partial eclipse was seen since the totality was witnessed in major cities of India, China, and nearby which on the lighter side, these cities have exponentially boomed in tourism because scientists and students found these places to be ideal spots to view the totality. To those like me who never had the chance to see face to face the eclipse, a lot of videos are available online that will wipe away your disappointment.

It's My First Time and I did Pretty Well

When I was in college at Holy Angel University, I was forced by my friends to get involved and join this Mr. and Ms. contest thingy for the celebration of our College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) Week. I was really hesistant at first because I have never joined contests like this. I always freak out in front of the crowd that's why I thought the idea was insane. Then, the president of our organization which happens to by my friend talked to me and convinced me to join. I had no choice, I can't disappoint her, so I said yes.

The contest was in line with the Sports fest activity hence, it was called Mr. and Ms. CEA Sportsfest 2006. Part of the segment was we had to model a sports attire and walk the walk. I was really not prepared then because it was already a day away when I finally said yes so I was on a rush. I showed off wearing a golfer attire with a golf club.

Also, like any other pageant, there's always this question and answer segment. I think I was second to be asked. I did pretty well and I think I answered the question just to the point. Guess what, I landed second place and got the Mr. CEA Sportsfest 2006 first runner-up title. Not bad for a first timer huh? hehe. See photo. We were even featured on the school publication.

Mariah Carey, on her newest music video mocks the King of Rap, Eminem. Wearing the signature baggy outfit and a hood of the famous rapper, both Mariah and Eminem fans I'm sure will be shocked and surprised on this new video. Kudos to MC for the effort of doing it though she really did not achieve the manly look.

The music video for this latest song entitled "Obsessed" directed by Brett Ratner was taken and filmed at New York city and will premiere on America's Got Talent on July 15.

Real-time Blogging While Malling

I remember when I was a kid, my mom used to take me to the mall with her and shop. You know, kids are kids, and when I get bored I would start doing crazy things to annoy my mom just for her to take me home. But that was too "old school" today.

Going to the mall is no longer just a "do shop" thing for mall goers. How I wish I was never born too earlier because of the advent of technology today, I can quickly share my wonderful shopping experience anywhere I am inside SM city pampanga. While searching for some latest celebrity news today at an entertainment website, this picture of US President Barack Obama caught my attention. And I guess everyone who happens to browse this page would undeniably take time to read and find out more about this. As you see on the photo, a lucky paparazzo just got his very perfect shot one sunny day when he caught on camera President Obama seemed like staring at a girl's behind. Well, it's for you to judge or how you would interpret this.

By the way, the girl is Mayora Tavares, a 16 year old junior G8 delegate from Brazil. This doesn't really look disgusting or disturbing for me contrary to what the author of the article expressed. I just see this photo as one of the "bloopers" the president has to deal with everyday as he is surrounded by paparazzi and spy cams. Be more careful next time Mr. President. Everyone has different interpretations, that sometimes, a simple gesture for you may mean malicious to others. I just hope Mrs. Obama won't violently react on this.

But the most emotional part of MJ's wake was when her 11-year old daughter, Paris speaks her pain out and drenched in tears in front of the crowd. At first sight, I was really thinking that Madonna was in this cover of the August issue of V magazine. But upon second look, I kinda got confused on who really this model is. Would you believe that she's Cameron Diaz? It was totally a surprise for me to see Diaz with this look.

This Charlie's angel is now reinventing herself by trying to look differently from her previous image. Most celebrities have done this "re-fashioning" for them to stand out and get noticed again. Remember Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears? From those sweetie, girl-next-door girls, they switched on to that dirty, sexy and daring personality which really caught the fans’ attention big time.

Disturbing Moans I Hear Each Night

Cats are cuddly and ideal pets at home. But when they start disturbing you and annoy you in other ways, it's just no good to have one. One particular experience I encountered was last night. We have been adopting slum cats and I think we have about 10 of them and still growing in number. They found our compound as a perfect home because they always get food from us. Since the time we had them, disgusting rats and mice that you see running all over our place just all went gone.

But every night is starting to become a nightmare and it is so hard to get a sound sleep. I always wake up in the middle of the night with all these cats playing on top of the roof making these very disturbing sounds. I learned that this kind of sound that they create is a manifestation that they are mating or love making. OMG. They're getting many day by day. I love pets but I love to sleep too. And now I’m caught in the middle. LOL.

President Gloria Arroyo's Breast Implant Rumor

I was watching the local news today and I happen to see this reported rumor about Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo having had a breast implant surgery. A journalist first sparked the issue when he wrote to his column that the one-day mandatory quarantine submission of the president yesterday after her trip out of the country was a pure alibi. Instead, she's been to the doctor to have a check up on her silicon breast implants done 20 years ago that according to him were giving problems to the president.

However, according to Malacañang's Press Secretary Cerge Remonde, this issue is totally ridiculous and should not be given media attention as it is non-sense. I agree. If it’s true, why would any body care in the first place? Secretary Gabriel Claudio also commented that he absolutely has no information regarding the issue and actually, he is not even aware that the president has breast implants.

Let's just leave Mrs. Arroyo with that issue. Plus the fact that this is a private topic that has nothing to do with the administration. Whether it is only a pure self-quarantine that she did or she got involved in any breast check up, it is the president's right as a human being to look good, prioritize health and keep private things private.
