Valentine's Day Ideas

It's gonna be Valentine's day in few weeks and just like me, I am sure you guys are all excited, too to wear that red top you've just bought in the mall! (Haha. Kidding!). Well, when I was in High School, I thought it was cute to wear red during Valentine's Day. But now, I don't think it's a good Valentine's day idea. Well, enough of my random thoughts.

Speaking of Cupid's "bow and arrow-ing" day, have you already bought gift for your partner, family or friends? Actually, if you can't think of anything to buy, there are a lot of choices online that will surely give you Valentine's Day ideas for men and women of any age. I might probably order online as well because I really don't have much time these days to go out and shop. I will just have my purchases delivered right into my doorstep. Besides, shopping online is very much convenient as it saves me time and energy. Instead of driving to the mall and shedding off some gas, I can just save the money or add it to my Valentine's Day budget.

Calle Restaurant and Bar Experience at The Courtyard

Calle Bar and Restaurant at The Courtyard, Balibago Angeles city, Pampanga, PaellaIf you are into bar hopping, clubbing and night-out parties, The Courtyard is the perfect place to step in along with your friends. On the recent grand launching, we decided to hop and critique the many different bars and restos all over the two-level party hub.

We went into Bicio, Exhibit3, Dixies, Hooters, Kebab Express, Sfacciato, Purple PadThai and whole lot more. Our last stop that ended the night was Calle Bar and Restaurant. The typical San Mig Light beer sells for PhP45 pesos (approx. $US1. same rate to most restos at The Courtyard) per bottle on a pay-per-order system. Their Paella which is good for three hungry stomach costs Php350 (approx. $US8), however, didn't hit much impact on our royal taste buds (laughs!) as for me, it somehow had a strong "shrimp paste-like (bagoong)" taste. Still, Paella at Instituto Cervantes on last year's Dia Del Libro was the best! But of course, we gave Calle an excuse since it's the first day of operation and I think the staff and crew were quite pressured and stressed-out that time.

My first-impression rating at Calle would be 6 out of 10. I hope you would regard this review post as a lesson to improve more and strive to offer the best service next time. By the way, you can always invite us if you want some of your specialties to be featured.

Let's Go Camping!

When I was a kid, camping was my favorite outdoor activity. My friends and I then would put up a small tent on our backyard and spend the whole night there playing together and telling each other some scary stories over a candle light. I sometimes went home crying because I was too scared of my friends' stories (laughs!). I remember then, we used to borrow our window awnings at the back of the house. We use the awnings to create a tent-like shade since we don't have any real tents then.

How I wish I could do that again even though I am already grown up. It's those little memories during my childhood that I truly miss that I sometimes want to go back to being young just to experience again the happy thoughts. It may sound funny but I find myself always reminiscing about the good-old days.

To all my friends out there, come on and let's go camping! This time we can bring real tent and awnings and go to a real forest to camp. :)

Thoughts on Shopping

Shopping all by myself is not a good idea for me because it makes me feel bored. That is why I usually ask someone out whenever I am planning to go shopping. At least you'll have someone to cheer you up when you get frustrated with, for example, an expensive pair of jeans or top (laughs). Kidding aside, I might be going to Manila again next week to buy some of the things we need on our hand crafts project. My business partner and I decided to purchase them in Manila to save more.

I will also be looking for some great deals like discounts and promotions in the malls so I can bring something back home for my friends. I've heard that the newly opened shopping mall there sells different wardrobes like large mens clothing, dresses for women and accessories for all age and gender.

Shopping doesn't necessarily mean that you have to spend a lot of money. It's just a matter of being wise and meticulous when it comes to the quality and price of the things you buy.

The Courtyard Grand Launching, Angeles City

A couple of friends invited me last Saturday to witness the grand launching of The Courtyard. It's the newest hub here in Balibago, Angeles city by Globe Asiatique with, I think about 20 or more stalls of bar and restaurants you can hop on during a night-out with friends. One of my friends' friend (Gracie Ann David) rents a unit on the second level (shop's name is Shopolio) selling different gorgeous accessories, bags and many others.

The program was hosted by Phoemela Baranda, Tim Yap and Tuesday Vargas and a lot of many local celebrities, bands (Rivermaya, Up Dharma Down, K 24/7). Tim Yap, by the way is the co-owner and the regular host of the recently opened The Mansion Club, also here in Pampanga. Politicians such as congressman Carmelo Tarzan Lazatin and mayoralty candidate Edgardo Pamintuan graced the event as well. Globe Asiatique Realty Holding’s (G.A.) founder Delfin Lee was also among the VIPs.

Ink Catridge for Your Printer

My printer is very important to me as it is one of the electronic equipment I need in attending to my business. Since I am into the design part of the business, I usually present hard copies of the creations that I come up with to clients and to my staff. With that, I am allotting a separate budget for the expenses needed in maintaining the printer and keep it functioning.

As most of you printer owners are aware, the most vital component of the printer is the ink or ink cartridge since this is where the prints rely. Different brands like Canon, HP, Kodak ink cartridge and many more come in compatibility with your printer so you have to make sure you are aware of the specific unit that will match your printer. One fact also is that buying/refilling an ink cartridge is not as affordable as ice cream. But of course, there are a lot of wise choices all over the web that offers ink cartridges at a reasonable price.

I used to buy in the malls but when I found out that there are more online, I just advised my secretary to order via the web and have just have it delivered.

LCD TV for the Valentines

I was with friends last weekend and I actually never went home for two days. Being with friends is so much fun because we barely go out together complete. It was only last weekend where our rest days from work all matched each others'. Then, one of my friends, Ron, is offering us different electronic gadgets and appliances as he is into buy and sell business. He has a lot on his list like television, DVD player, component system and kitchen appliances that will surely accessorize the household.

Since Valentines Day is near, I thought of buying a new LCD TV as a gift for my mom and to myself as well. Our old CRT TV always screws up and it already has a poor color and reception. I took home the product catalog so I will let mom help me choose among the many LCD TVS available and to at least let her feel that I really am buying the TV for her (Though at the back of my mind, I am buying it for myself. Laughs!). Anyway, I will also consult my friend on which TV is the most reliable since he's been selling them for like many years now. I will let you know soon when I already bought one. Have a great week!

K-Bond Men's Loafers (Slip-on Shoes) from People Are People

K-Bond Los Angeles USA for me, has some of the most stylish and good-looking shoes, especially for men. Last week, I finally bought another pair of K-Bond loafers (slip-on shoes) from People Are People at Marquee Mall in Angeles. I got the shoes for Php2,999 (approx.US$65). They come in off-white, mahogany brown and black. The off-white looks perfect on me. :)

I love how the shoes were designed because even though they come from the K-Bond Formals Collection, the ragged and faded effect made them appropriate to wear on casual or party outfit as well. Though K-bonds are quite expensive, the satisfaction it brings to me is priceless because the styles that they produce never fail to amaze me.

I love wearing them on shorts and on skinny pants. Always remember that aside from neckties, shoes are also part of the styling factors that finalize the overall look of your style no matter what pants or top you are wearing.

The loafers shoes are very light and fit my feet well. :)

My Tuesday Joy Ride Day

Before I go to bed, I decided to blog a few things of what happened with me today. Actually, I was out the whole day with friends. We went inside Clark to stroll around and drop by at duty free shops. One of my friends picked us up and asked us if we can accompany him in shopping for some accessories for his dad's big ride. When I say big, the ride literally is big because it's a pimped truck ride that they use on their quarry business here in Porac.

It's his dad's birthday next week so he thought of surprising him by buying his ride some new truck accessories for it to look more funky and ragged. He's a sweet son, isn't he? There are, in fact, a lot of auto accessories choices to choose from whether what type of ride you are in to. I got excited and actually bought some new side mirrors and wind shield stickers as well.

Sigh! I just can't help but to spend every time I'm with these guys! (Laughs)

The $3.2 Million Apple iPhone 3GS - World's Most Expensive Phone

I always blog about cool new gadgets especially the unusual ones. Previously, I shared about a luxurious wireless mouse from Intelligent Designs. And now, there is yet again another deluxe gadget that caught my attention. Of course, it came from the most sought after and ever popular breed of mobile phones – Apple's iPhone. To date, the gadget is considered as the most expensive mobile phone with a price of US$ 3.2 million.

This expensive iPhone 3GS Supreme handset was launched the latter part of last year by Stuart Hughes after 10 months in the making. The casing alone carries a 22k solid gold and has a front bezel stuffed with 136 flawless 68ct. diamonds. Also, the Apple rear logo is filled with 53 1ct. diamonds plus a single 7.1ct. diamond for the navigation button. Not only that, the phone comes with a 7kg Kashmir gold granite carrying box with a Nubuck top grain leather.

The phone was made exclusive for an anonymous Australian businessman who's into gold mining industry. This gadget is really jaw-dropping!

Finding Ways to Save Money Effectively

There is one word that I am targeting to achieve this year - SAVE. I have noticed that I did a lot of overspending lately and my savings in the bank is approaching the red level. It makes me sing of Rihanna's song, Disturbia (No more gas, in the red. Can't even get it started. Blah blah blah..)

One of my friends who's into the accounting field educated me recently and gave me tips on how to save and invest money wisely for it to become productive. She explained to me the advantages of certificate of deposit (cd), cd rates and its benefits. I have learned that banks have different promotions when it comes to cd. Most banks do sale on cd rates so the best thing to do is to conduct surveys first to make sure you'll get the most benefits.

In order for me not to experience that Rihanna dilemma, I am starting to save as early as now. What I am doing is pure discipline though there are times that I can't avoid but to spend.

Accentuate Your Home Through Lighting

lighting and living, chandelier lighting lights, lighting for home, home interiorsChandeliers, ceiling lights and lamps accentuate the overall setting of the house and considerably change the mood depending on what type of lighting is used. I personally like having big chandelier lighting in my living room because it gives this soothing feeling every time I look at its shiny embellishments.

There are a lot of stores online that provide different types of lights apart from chandeliers at a practical price that will not slash your budget. You can choose the lighting that will best suit the mood of your house. From the smallest lamps to the biggest ceiling lights, these gorgeous lights will surely brighten up your life.

Engineer + Writer + Web Guy + Photographer + Entrepreneur = Me

Jaypee David as Jack of all Trades, Marquee Mall pictureAs most of you know, I am an engineering graduate, specifically a bachelor's degree holder in Electronics and Communications Engineering. Soon after graduation, I also got a professional license as an Electronics Engineer of the Republic of the Philippines. At the moment, I am a web developer, social media publisher and a part time engineering consultant - in lay man's term, I do websites, I write and I design engineering stuff you might not be interested with. :) I also do Photography by the way!

And there is yet another title that sooner or later I might be tagged with - an entrepreneur. A friend and I started this venture just this 2010 thinking that it's about time to stop working for big tycoons and start being productive in our own little way, at the same time helping a few people in our community. We will be producing arts and crafts made from local materials that will target not only the local market but also the foreign trade.

And since business management will be required in this line of industry, I might be enrolling a management course for me to at least know the basics of entrepreneurship. Actually, I am just planning of enrolling an online schooling to one of the most reputable institutions that give real online degrees and provide flexibility and ease of study. With that, I can earn another degree in the convenience of my own home.

Chic and Fashionable: The First Lady Michelle Obama Style

Tagged as the "First Lady of Fashion", US President Barack Obama's wife, Michelle has been receiving a lot of positive feedbacks to critiques about her fashion statement. I have to agree with them too because I think Michelle Obama knows how to match her style. I have seen her appeared on television and it's as if she belongs to the Hollywood celebrities. I have included several of her photo collection so you can take a look on what the Michelle Obama fashion is all about.

I am sure, Michelle will create a fashion legacy that is so uncommon to people in politics who only dress safe and ordinary as they have a little time in looking fashionable. The first lady really has a great eye on looking good and is starting to become an influence to many. For me, she is more than just a fashion icon; she is timeless. A black woman that rocks the white house.

Summer is coming in and I'm sure most of you guys are already planning the hot summer vacation getaway, either on the beach or somewhere else where you can relax, have fun and unwind. But actually, Myrtle Beach Resorts just sit side by side with the most popular beaches I have just mentioned. It has a lot of accommodating places to stay like Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Resorts which is just right at the heart of Myrtle.

The Irony of Global Financial Crisis

Banks are like mushrooms sprouting everywhere. I was driving a few days ago and passed by Mac Arthur Highway along Angeles University and I was surprised to see about five to seven banks just a few meters away from each other. Is this what we call global financial economic crisis? Oh come on!

In the same logic, there are also a lot of financial institutions all over the web, offering different kinds of financial assistance to those who are short on budget or those who just need fast cash. Actually, I tried one a few years back and it really helped me in a sense that I was able to bring out the money that I needed without having to undergo long and tedious process like the others. So what I did was I applied to this online financing company that offers bad credit loans. I just filled out some forms and as soon as I qualified, the money was already in my hands.

If you are thinking of spending but you just don't have the money to spend, think of it this way: you can actually get fast cash, just when you need it - instantly and in no time. Gone are the days where availing a loan takes forever to complete.

Showcase Your Credentials Through LinkedIn

LinkedIn is one social networking site that I just recently discovered to be interesting. In fact, I just created my personal account. Well, it's a pretty cool site because unlike the other social networking sites, this is like an online resume where you can display all your credentials like educational background and work experience. You also get to invite friends and keep them in to your network as a reference.

I got to know this site because of an old friend. I was browsing through facebook and stumbled upon his account. And there I found the link of his LinkedIn account. And voila, I'm in!

Swarovski Crystals Photo Shoot

I was in the mood yesterday for a photo shoot. I've got no human models available but my sister's jewelry box caught my attention. I saw her gorgeous sparkling Swarovski beads and I thought they could be a perfect subject for the photo shoot. I dismantled some of her bracelets which I hope she won't find out (laughs).

I am not yet familiar with macro settings of my camera so I did a lot of experiments. The results were kind of grainy and noisy because I don't have the proper lighting yet, in fact I only used my reading lamp.

And after numerous takes and retakes, I came up with this set:

My Nephew is Getting a New Phone!

For most kids, the start of the year probably is the most fruitful time for them because of the aguinaldos (gift/presents, usually in cash) that they got from their godparents. When I was a kid, I used to visit my godparents and go house to house to kiss their hands and greet them a merry Christmas. That's how the Filipino Christmas tradition is celebrated - reuniting and remembering relatives and loved ones.

One of my nephews who undeniably earned a lot last Christmas knocked my door just this morning and asked me for some tips regarding which phone to buy. I got blown away when he told me that the money he will be spending on his new phone all came from his aguinaldos. Wow, I wish I can be young again (laughs).

Well, considering his budget, I advised him to have a look at the newest LG Chocolate Touch that features Dolby Mobile technology for crystal-clear sound quality. Knowing my nephew to be a techy guy, I am sure he will love this phone capable of text messaging, music, video, internet surfing and many other advanced features. That way, instead of bring a laptop, a camera and a sound device, he can just carry this sleek device and have all those gadget functions in one hand.

The newest LG Chocolate Touch is really a one cool gadget for the techy. Check it out.

Reshape Your Body Permanently With LASER Lipo

A couple of weeks ago, I had the chance to meet a friend who just had a cosmetic surgery. She's long been suffering from stress and lack of self confidence because she was overweight. But to my surprise, she shed off her excess baggage after the said operation. At some point, I know how it feels when you lose confidence with yourself and you just don't feel your self worth and all you want to do is to just stay in your room forever – it feels so upsetting.

However, merit goes to Science and Technology for making possible what we thought was unattainable then. Because of cosmetic surgery, almost everyone is now capable of achieving that look they have always dreamed of. Lipo suction for example, or in lay man's term, the operation to shed excess body fats, is one of the most sought after surgical operation to regain beauty to date.

And right now, there are even more advanced and less complicated technological innovations that can perform body sculpting in no time and lesser pain. Sono Belo for example, uses laser assisted lipo suction and body contouring technology with their highly advanced equipment and well trained, certified physicians that guarantee a safe and effective procedure.

Summer Vacation, Here We Come!!

Jaypee David in NAIA Airport heading to Boracay Island Philippines, Philippine AirlinesNow that the New Year celebration is over, I am now set to preparing for the summer vacation! Seems like holidays and vacations are just what I have in mind, don't you think? Well, to tell you honestly, YES! I have always been a mobile person and that means going to different places, traveling, photographing and shopping. I guess that's how my mechanism was designed. I would never survive a life without travelling.

And now that we're just again counting days for the summer break, what do you guys have in mind? If you would ask me, I'd give you one instant answer - the BEACH! It's been months now since I last went to the beach and I am badly missing it. The smell of the shore is inviting me and I really can't fight the lure.

Since we already tackled the vacation topic, let me tell something about one of the most visited places in California located in Los Angeles County - the Long Beach. It has an ideally moderate temperature all throughout the year as it is just near the Pacific Ocean. It is also here, where the largest shipping port in the world is located making it ideal for travelers to have their Long Beach cruise planning. And tell you what, Long Beach restaurants offering different kinds of delicacies are like mushrooms everywhere so forget about never having to find the food you want to eat.

If you want to spend quality time here in Long Beach, check on bookcheapandgo.com for their travel packages. There are in fact, 3-day, 4-day and 7-day itineraries that you can avail anytime of the year in which all cruises head on to Mexico. Apple iPad Tablet PC, Apple 10.1-inch 3G Tablet Computer, Steve Jobs Apple iPhone Next Generation, iPhone and MacBook combinationApple is cooking up a new touch screen tablet PC and this is something to watch out for around March next year. The Apple tablet or iPad as they call it looks more like a mutation of an iPhone and a MacBook with a screen size of 10.1 inches equipped with a touch sensitive LCD which is about 5-6 times the resolution of an iPhone screen. Steve Jobs himself envisioned this next-level 10-inch 3G-enabled wireless device with a multi-touch screen.

This iPad tablet PC will surely reward you with a better movie experience, as according to sources its video capability is something for the future gadgets to beat because of it's improved technology giving you that ultimate video experience.

The expected retail price might fall at around $500 - $750 with a moderation of 1-1.5 million units to be sold per quarter. As of now, every bit of information that's coming out about this awaited tablet PC remains unofficial as Apple executives still have not straightforwardly acknowledged its supposed forthcoming.

Random Thoughts On Elementary Days and Ceiling Fans

When I was in elementary, ceiling fans are some of the most popular projects of the PTA that they install in every classroom. I remember then that the top sections of each grade level were the first ones to be granted one. Well, nothing much about this idea. It's just that this weird question of "why ceiling fans are so popular?" popped out of my idle mind (laughs).

Anyway, just forget about that century-old thought of mine. Speaking of ceiling fan, you might want to consider getting one for your room because it can save you more during the not-so hot days. Instead of switching on the air condition, you can just use the electric fan.

Pay Attention or Pay the Price

Not too long ago, I featured a video from my post titled Devil's Own Luck: Texting While Driving which is about a graphic TV commercial that calls out everyone to be responsible drivers and not to use cell phones while on the road.

I have yet another video to share. I was browsing some blogs today and I stumbled upon a video post which is likely related and much more graphic than the one I previously published.

The video is a collection of vehicle-related tragic accidents that again wishes to awaken people especially drivers to realize that by not being cautious when on the road, either two things can happen to us; we can be one of the most fatal persons that will forever be haunted by our conscience or worse, we can be a victim by the first.

My 2010 Wish List

The recent holiday break, most of us got indulged into spending too much not knowing we still have a life to live after the holidays. As for me, most of my savings, including my holiday bonus were all wiped out. Good thing, instant cash like emergency loans are readily available to at least save us by the bell.

Actually, I am set to applying a loan to help me achieve the things I am dreaming to have this 2010. First on the list is a lens upgrade for my DSLR so I can shoot complex subjects. My friends were right when they told me that Photography is a way too expensive hobby. And right now, I'm starting to realize that it's really more expensive than I thought. Anyway, as long as I'm enjoying, it doesn't matter.

Listed below are the top 10 things I am eager to achieve this 2010:

1. DSLR lens
2. Mac PC
3. New car
4. Living room furniture
5. iLasik Treatment to correct my vision
6. Travel, travel and more travel.
7. The latest iPhone
8. Camera kit accessories (tripod, lighting sets, etc.)
9. Build up my own photography studio room
10. Own business

We only live once and we should make the most out of it as the saying goes.

Prioritizing Health Through Social Action

One of my New Year's resolution this 2010 is by becoming more concerned about my health. This means analyzing more carefully my food intake and my diet. Most of the foods that are available in the market today are comprised of artificial flavorings and preservatives. With our lifestyle today, even the adolescents and the young adults are no longer safe to what we knew before as "old-age diseases". In fact, I have known cases of heart attacks from ages below 30.

With this, I have found a healthy and natural product that is ideal for people who wants to stay fit the natural way. Herbalife International, Inc. is known as the world's largest seller when it comes to nutrition and weight control represented in 72 countries having a 1.9 million of independent distributors of their products. With that, the company has established Herbalife Soziales Handeln (Herbalife Social Action) that aims to help other agencies in reaching out to the unfortunate and socially disadvantaged.

Timeless Beauty: "Afghan Girl" Sharbat Gula

Sharbat Gula, National Geographic Channel, Afghan Girl, Steve McCurryHer face clearly defines an exceptional persona of combined beauty, fear and fashion. I bet you all recognize this girl. She is Sharbat Gula who became famous because of this first ever single photograph of hers by Steve McCurry that graced the cover of the 1985 issue of the National Geographic magazine.

Sharbat was publicized as the "Afghan Girl" with an unknown name because her identity and whereabouts remained unrevealed for over 15 years since she was featured. Later on during 2002, Sharbat, who's then 30 years old, was located at a remote region in Afghanistan. And on that same year, she was again featured on National Geographic.

Only then did she find out that such photo of hers ever existed and made her popular all over the world.

Krispy Kreme Caramel Apple Pie and NY Cheesecake Doughnuts Review

Krispy Creme Doughnuts recently opened its branch at Ayala Marquee Mall here in Pampanga. Well, who wouldn't fall in love with their world famous and best tasting doughnuts? I am actually not a sweets fanatic but doughnuts are just among the exceptions.

A friend and I had a taste of KK's newest branch to see if it really abides to our taste buds' standards. I ordered Caramel Apple Pie Doughnut and my friend asked for a New York Cheesecake Doughnut (each costs PhP42.00 or approx. US¢0.90, each). I kind of like NY Cheesecake more than the Caramel Apple Pie because it is not too sweet and the flavor of creamy cheese neutralizes sugar. But the Caramel Apple Pie tastes perfect, too as any other Krispy Kreme specialty.

Our coffee orders however, (Hot Mocha and Cappuccino - PhP95.00 and PhP90.00 respectively) tasted too strong.

On Holiday Sale and Sbarro's Spaghetti

A few days ago when we were in SM City Clark, I decided to look for some shops on sale so I can save a little money in buying a couple of gifts for some friends who will be celebrating their birthdays this month. I asked my friend to accompany me in strolling around the mall to find the perfect birthday presents.

Luckily, we stumbled upon the mall's department store because some of the stalls there were having a year end sale - just what I have been looking for! I bought a couple of T-shirts, pants and some other promotional products displayed. At the end of the day, we end up with too much things because we got indulged with the sale.

After we shopped, we agreed to put our feet up first and have a nibble at our favorite Italian fast food - Sbarro. I have been eating Sbarro's spaghetti with rolled pizza for quite a while now but it still feels like heaven each time I eat it. And I like their raspberry iced tea, too.
